The difference between martial arts and self-defense

Many people refer to martial arts to defend to get on the streets fighting skills. But what is the difference between martial arts (in technical terms) and street self defense? The first step is the difference in the gate. The aim of the competition is to win, to show off your technical superiority against opponent martial arts. But it's not a very good idea to compete with which an attacker on the road, your goal is to protect or even survive. It is also a ring or mats differently, because in the ring, you are ready to fight, but to the people on the street usually with sudden violence. So you do not have time to develop strategy-he must act immediately. In General, practicing martial arts to fight under almost constant and known to wear comfortable clothes and appropriate uses. On the roads of radically changing: an attack could happen anywhere is inappropriate; Environmental conditions, may is not on your side (smooth road, bad lighting, bad weather, etc.); Their clothes may not be good for the fight to restrict movement.
Martial arts have certain rules of ethics, and give only a battle; some methods are prohibited for safety reasons. But street battles don't have rules and you should expect each switch to an attacker-do not count on a fair fight. Unlike sparring, pamper yourself in the situation where the legitimate defence, which is likely at least two attackers and they can (armed with swords, baseball bats, bottles, chains, etc.). You must understand that there is no need for you, your skills to prove someone is in the way you fight with your safety, it is important that the decision how fast to run in a situation of self-defence might be ideal.
